CIO Forum

Mondrian’s CIO Forum meets at least monthly to discuss global valuations within the construct of our investment process, research from the portfolio management teams, current macro themes around the world, as well as country and sector positioning within our strategies. Clive Gilmore, CEO and Group CIO, chairs this collaborative meeting with our five other CIOs. The purpose of this dialog is to share ideas and ensure the consistency of our investment process across the firm.

Mr. Gillmore is a graduate of the University of Warwick in Management Science, and has completed the Investment Management Program at the London Business School. In 1990, Mr. Gillmore joined Mondrian Investment Partners’ predecessor organization as a founding member, having previously worked as a senior portfolio manager for Hill Samuel Investment Advisers Ltd., and a portfolio manager at Legal and General Investment Management. He has over thirty years’ experience analyzing equity markets and securities around the world and has managed client portfolios with a wide range of mandates. Mr. Gillmore is CEO and Group CIO of Mondrian, he also chairs the CIO Forum and the Global Equity Research Forum. He sits as a senior member on the Global Equity Strategy Committee.

Ms. Desmond holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MA in East Asian Studies from Stanford University. After working for the Japanese government for two years, she began her investment career as a Pacific Basin investment manager with Shearson Lehman Global Asset Management. In 1991 Ms. Desmond joined Mondrian Investment Partners’ predecessor organization as a founding member after previously working as a Pacific Basin equity analyst and senior portfolio manager at Hill Samuel Investment Advisers Ltd. She is a Director and leads the International Equity investment team; in addition she chairs the International Equity Strategy Committee. Ms. Desmond is a CFA Charterholder, and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of the UK. She sits on the CFA UK’s Advisory Council.

Dr. Krishnan heads Mondrian’s small cap strategies. Dr. Krishnan started her investment career in 1993 with Singapore based Koeneman Capital Management. Prior to joining Mondrian in 2000 as a portfolio manager, Dr. Krishnan was an investment consultant with William M Mercer. Upon completion of her BSc in Pure and Applied Mathematics from the National University of Singapore, Dr. Krishnan achieved her MSc in Actuarial Science from City University, London. In 2006, Dr. Krishnan completed her Doctoral program in Investment and Finance from Sir John Cass Business School, City of London. Her doctoral thesis was on ‘Value versus Growth in the Asian Equity Markets’.

Mr. Miller has a BA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Birmingham. Prior to joining Mondrian in 2000, he worked in the Investment Management department of PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was responsible for the analysis and audit of various investment vehicles. Whilst at Mondrian, Mr. Miller has specialised in Emerging Markets and he is now the Chief Investment Officer for this product. Mr. Miller holds the ASIP designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of the UK.

Mr. Wakefield joined Mondrian in 2001. He took both a BSc and an MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick. Prior to joining Mondrian, Mr. Wakefield was an economic adviser to the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England, and formerly an economic adviser to the UK Treasury Department, specializing in inflation forecasting in both positions. At Mondrian, he is the team’s Chief Investment Officer and chairs the Global Fixed Income and Currency Committee meetings, where he utilizes his extensive inflation forecasting experience. Mr. Wakefield is a CFA Charterholder and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Ms. Gan is a Commerce graduate from the University of Melbourne, Australia and holds a Masters of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Prior to joining Mondrian in 2005, she was a consultant at Accenture, specializing in the financial services sector. Ms. Gan has extensive experience in developed markets working initially within Mondrian Non-US Equity Team. She is the Chief Investment Officer of the Global Equities product and chairs the Global Equity Strategy Committee. Ms. Gan is a CPA (Australia) and CFA Charterholder. She is also a member of the CPA Australia, the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of the UK.
